Job Summary:

The Practice Manager is also critical in facilitating the efficient, smooth, and professional running of the day-to-day business in the law firm. This covers the administration, financial, and HR functions, assists the lawyers with practice management activities, and enhances the operational functions in order to maximize productivity and service delivery to clients. The position is strategic planning, combined with practical management in the legal context.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control the daily operation of the firm in terms of administrative activity and ensure good workflow in all departments.
  • Direct financial activities, such as budgeting, procurement of funds and investment of funds.
  • Colleagues and co-counsel in scheduling, client coordinating, and case management systems.
  • Manage assistants like legal secretaries, receptionists and office administrators.
  • Schedule and perform best practices, policies, and procedures, workflow instruction/training.
  • HR operation- hiring, joining, and performance of the employees.
  • Ensure that the principles of professional and ethical conduct in the firm are followed.
  • Manage vendors, office maintenance, and coordination of technology support.
  • Work with partners to strategize on growth, business growth, and client service programs.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Management, Law, or major (MBA desirable).
  • 5-10 years of experience in operations, administration, or management, preferably in a law firm or professional services firm.
  • Good people management and leadership skills.
  • Good communication and management skills.
  • Experience in legal practice management systems and software.
  • Good knowledge of law firm billing, accounting, and human resources.
  • Multitasking, prioritizing, and working on strict deadlines.

Preferred Experience:

  • Past position as a Law Practice Manager or Office Manager in a law or consulting firm.
  • Familiarity with CRM, document management, and time-tracking solutions in legal practices.
  • Experience in leadership work in a team, as well as operational process improvement.
